EMDR: Grief and Mourning with Dr. Roger Solomon

Join me for a unique roundtable discussion with Dr. Roger Solomon, internationally recognized EMDR trainer, consultant, and author, as we explore the EMDR protocol for grief and mourning through an attachment-based lens. This interactive supervision and consultation group will provide clinicians with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of grief treatment, attachment-informed case conceptualization, and the application of EMDR therapy with clients experiencing loss.

Participants will engage in discussion with Dr. Solomon regarding the clinical application of his grief and mourning protocol, case considerations, and best practices for working with complex grief presentations. To maximize the learning experience, all group members are required to read  EMDR Therapy Treatment for Grief and Mourning by Dr. Roger Solomon prior to attending. Familiarity with the material will allow for richer discussion, clinical consultation, and meaningful engagement during the roundtable.

This group is ideal for EMDR-trained clinicians seeking to expand their knowledge of grief work, attachment-focused treatment, and EMDR case conceptualization.  Clinicans must be trained through an EMDRIA Approved Provider.

Making Connections in North Carolina: Our Ethical Responsibility

As mental health professionals, we are not meant to practice in isolation. One of our ethical responsibilities is recognizing when a client presents with complexities that extend beyond our current knowledge or experience and seeking consultation to ensure the highest quality of care. Consultation not only supports ethical decision-making but also promotes professional growth, strengthens clinical confidence, and ultimately benefits our clients.

Join us for Making Connections in North Carolina: Our Ethical Responsibility, a collaborative discussion focused on the importance of building professional relationships and utilizing consultation as an essential part of ethical clinical practice. We will explore when to seek consultation, how collaboration enhances client care, and why developing a strong network of trusted colleagues is a hallmark of competent and ethical practice.

We are also excited to welcome James McCracken, a leader with the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) in North Carolina. James has been instrumental in facilitating consultation groups that help EFT-trained clinicians deepen their skills, strengthen their confidence, and continue their professional development. This is a wonderful opportunity for clinicians trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy to meet James, learn about consultation opportunities within the EFT community, and expand their professional network.

Integrating Faith into our Sessions with Clients

For many clinicians, faith is an important part of their personal and professional identity. Yet, questions often arise about how to ethically and appropriately integrate a client’s faith into the counseling process while honoring professional boundaries, client autonomy, and evidence-based practice.

Join us for Integrating Our Faith into the Clinical Setting with Our Clients, an engaging discussion led by Dr. Paul Loosemore, Director of the Counseling Department and Counseling Center and Associate Professor of Counselingat Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dr. Loosemore is also trained through EMDRIA and ICEEFT, bringing extensive experience in trauma treatment, attachment-based therapy, and the thoughtful integration of faith within the counseling relationship. He will explore the ethical and clinical considerations involved in incorporating clients’ spiritual beliefs into treatment, including when and how to address faith in counseling, maintaining cultural humility, and ensuring that faith-based interventions remain client-centered rather than counselor-driven.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful discussion, and learn practical ways to navigate the intersection of faith and clinical practice with confidence and integrity.

OCD, ADHD, & Autism: Understanding the Overlap and Differentiating the Differences

Differentiating between OCD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder can be one of the most challenging aspects of clinical practice. While these diagnoses often share overlapping features, each presents with distinct clinical characteristics that require thoughtful assessment and treatment planning. Understanding the nuances of these conditions is essential for accurate diagnosis and effective intervention.

Join us for OCD, ADHD, & Autism: Understanding the Overlap and Differentiating the Differences, led by Connor Keeter, owner of Hope Rises Counseling in Wilmington, North Carolina. Connor has extensive training in the assessment and treatment of OCD and has participated in OCD consultation groups with experts from across the country. She is trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), and SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions)—three evidence-based approaches specifically used in the treatment of OCD. Connor also incorporates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) into her clinical work, integrating current research and evidence-based practices to provide comprehensive care.

During this group, Connor will discuss the clinical indicators of OCD, ADHD, and Autism Spectrum Disorder, common co-occurring diagnoses, and practical considerations for differential diagnosis. Special attention will be given to distinguishing the clinical presentations of OCD and Autism—an area that can often present diagnostic challenges for clinicians. Participants will also gain insight into evidence-based treatment approaches and leave with practical strategies they can apply in their own clinical work.
